TRANSDERMAL PATCHES OF KETOPROFEN USING EUDRAGIT POLYMERS: PERMEATION AND SKIN IRRITATION STUDIES
Main Article Content
Abstract
This review examines what the published literature reports on ketoprofen transdermal patches built from Eudragit polymers, with emphasis on skin permeation testing and the assessment of skin irritation, and it presents no new experimental data. It describes why ketoprofen suits transdermal delivery, how different Eudragit grades and plasticisers shape drug release and adhesion, and how in vitro diffusion cells and release kinetics are used to judge performance. Irritation methods, from the classical rabbit scoring system to reconstructed human epidermis models, are compared. Matrix patches generally deliver useful flux, but studies differ widely in membrane choice, vehicle and reporting, and few link in vitro permeation to tolerability or to human exposure.
